The NHS the warning you need to hear

A hard-core of struggling hospitals are “in denial” about their failure to provide safe and high-quality care to their patients, the Chief Inspector of Hospitals warns today.

Professor Sir Mike Richards, Chief Inspector of Hospitals at the Care Quality Commission, said that some NHS trusts had failed to “look outside” their own institutions for what “sometimes seems like decades” and adopt best practice of other more successful hospitals.

Sometimes our loyalty to the NHS may blind us to the fact that the NHS is not doing quite as good a job as we would like it to do. My job is to show what the differences are and identify the learning so we can see the improvement happening.
