After the formal handing over of Camp Bastion to the Afghan National Army yesterday, the last remaining British soldier departed Helmand, Afghanistan in a Chinook helicopter today, as the UK combat role officially came to an end.
Wing Commander Matt Radnall, Officer Commanding 7 Force Protection Wing, was pictured carrying a carefully folded Union Flag under his arm while preparing to fly home to the UK.
