Teenage girl's phone explodes killing her while she talks to her family

A teenage girl in India has reportedly been killed by her smartphone after it exploded as she was talking on it.

Uma Oram reportedly plugged the phone into a power socket to charge and was talking to a relative when it blew up, injuring her hand, chest and leg.

She became unconscious, and at the hospital, in the eastern Indian state of Odisha, she was declared dead.

According to the MailOnline, her brother, Durga Prasad said the phone was charging when she started talking to a relative:

Before we could know what exactly happened, Uma fell unconscious.

She was declared dead at the hospital.

Local media outlets speculate that the phone is a 5233, a model released in 2010.
