Ted Cruz has a new nickname and he absolutely hates it

Only a few months after Republican senator Ted Cruz was branded ‘Cancun Cruz’ for jetting away on holiday to Mexico during a weather crisis in his state of Texas, the US politician has been given a new moniker.

Of course, he isn’t keen on it.

MSNBC host Brian Williams commented on a recent tweet by Cruz, in which the senator shared a clip of what purports to be Russian military propaganda with the caption: “Holy c**p. Perhaps a woke, emasculated military is not the best idea…”

Williams commented: “By all accounts, Ted Cruz did not like the nickname Cancun Cruz, though he tried joking about it, acting like it didn’t matter. He really won’t like being called Kremlin Cruz after his latest and remarkably stupid lapse in judgement.

“Don’t we want committed and motivated members of our all-volunteer armed forces? … Imagine how happy it makes [Russia] to have yet another advocate among Republican members of the Senate?”

Cruz snapped back over on Twitter, writing in a lengthy thread: “With his trademark ignorant snark, [Williams has] dubbed me ‘Kremlin Cruz’.

“I hate communists. My family was imprisoned and tortured by communists, and Brian is a shameless apologist for Russian (and Chinese and Cuban) communists.

“I was arguing that our military needs to be able to kick the ass of Russian soldiers. It’s Brian and his lefty comrades that are working relentlessly to diminish the effectiveness of the US military – the finest fighting force on the face of the planet.”

He concluded by calling on Williams to call US President Joe Biden ‘Kremlin Biden’, claiming that the Democrat is allegedly and “illegally giving billions to [Russian president] Putin.”
