Shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt suggested earlier today that he would like teachers to take a 'Hippocratic oath' to commit themselves to the values of their profession.
In response, a number of teachers have suggested that if they must take such an oath then perhaps MPs should do the same.
As Mr Hunt put it, the pledge could emphasise the "moral calling and the noble profession of", ahem, being a politician:
Upon being voted to parliament, each MP must take an "Oath of Allegiance" to the Queen before taking his or her seat - although this doesn't mention anything about upholding professional ethics.
