Sadiq Khan spoke at City Hall on Thursday following the announcement that London was being placed into a tier 2 lockdown.
The mayor of London warned residents of the capital that they are in for a difficult winter but urged everyone to follow the rules but still called for more money from the government and for a national 'circuit breaker' lockdown to be implemented nationwide.
However, despite the seriousness of his speech, viewers couldn't help but be distracted by his unusual choice of outfit for the occasion which consisted of a smart suit jacket on top of a gilet.
We know it has gotten colder but this is quite a look from Khan and people couldn't didn't know whether to laugh or be in awe of his fashion choices.
Why is Sadiq Khan wearing a coat under his suit jacket? Is there no heating in City Hall? https://t.co/syxowt54lr— Lidz (@Lidz) 1602765247

It certainly made a contrast to the casual outfit that Manchester mayor Andy Burnham wore to give his speech on the measures imposed on his city.

Others thought that he looked like a football manager on the sidelines.

Apparently, Khan's outfit appeared to be some sort of problem with the central heating at City Hall. London Assembly Member, Caroline Russell, who was at the mayor's question time confirmed that everyone had mutlitple layers on as it was freezing inside.
Please can someone turn on the heating at City Hall I beg you https://t.co/x5sKCiQrA4— Dr Philip Lee (@Dr Philip Lee) 1602757941

Away from Khan's jackets the measures that have been put in place in the capital will come into effect on Friday evening and will prevent people form different households mixing indoors.
The rule of six still applies outside, including private gardens. Essex, Elmbridge, Barrow in Furness, York, North East Derbyshire, Chesterfield and Erewash have also been placed under the same rules.
