The western world is still reeling from Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.
But when someone passes now, instead of mourning privately, people grieve in real time via social media.
While mourning en masse can feel incredibly powerful and comforting, it can also throw up some… rogue ideas.
Like how people kept linking RBG to Chadwick Boseman for some unknown reason reason.
I just hope RBG and Chadwick Boseman are living it up in the afterworld together tonight ❤️— Patti Murin (@Patti Murin) 1600478982
It was a little… jarring.

People even began mocking the trend.

Safe to say people weren’t here for it.
The image seemed predicated on the fact both were classed as 'superheroes', but some thought it inadvertently made light of both of their deaths.
Linking RBG and Boseman seemed to have no rooting in reality – the two never met – and people thought it positioned Boseman as a ‘prop’.
@TheRyanParker Hey Dickhead can you not use Black people as props for your bad-taste fanfic?— Zoe and Rocco’s Modern life ✡️🇵🇸🤦🏽♂️ (@Zoe and Rocco’s Modern life ✡️🇵🇸🤦🏽♂️) 1600479241
Someone even pointed out that RBG didn’t always seem to align with the ideals ascribed to her.
"...and then RBG said to Chadwick..." https://t.co/mwzEtsEnmL— fooly (@fooly) 1600521420
Basically: no more Black Panther/RBG fanfic please.
