A white woman was caught on video telling a Puerto Rican woman “I hope Trump deports you” after allegedly hearing her speaking Spanish with her friend.
The racist tirade occurred in a grocery shop in Pennsylvania.
Johanny Santana began filming mid-confrontation with an unidentified woman telling her, “I hope Trump deports you” and implying that she paid for her things with “drug money”.
Santana spoke to NBC Philadelphia and said she started filming after the woman swore when a child spoke Spanish to the cashier while shopping with his grandfather in Abington market.
According to Santana, the woman she videoed was a different one to the one who initially swore at the child.
“The boy comes back and asks another question [to the cashier] and that's when the woman, who was next to me, started cursing,” Santana said.
Santana started filming and spoke to the child in Spanish, which prompted the woman in the stripy white and red shirt to start swearing.
After the woman was heard saying “any century now”, Santana asked her if she had a problem with her speaking in Spanish.
The woman responded: “Can you stop talking to me?”
In the video, Santana gasped as she heard the woman call her a “p*ta”, the Spanish word for b***h.
Santana told her not to say the word as it is “no good”, but the white woman repeats it, saying: “You’re a p*ta.”
The unnamed woman continued and told Santana: “I was born here, you don’t belong here… go back to your own country.”
Santana told her “I don’t care”, but the woman told her “we’re not your f**king piggy bank".
You don't belong here, you came here illegally. You should be deported… I hope Trump deports you.
Santana eventually told her, “F**k you” – something she later told NBC she regretted.
I regret it because I didn't want to tell her that. I felt powerless because I didn't speak English well enough to be able to properly respond to her.
The woman called her “p*ta” again and Santa repeated the Spanish slur back at her.
Eventually the white woman said: “Adios b*tch” and waved paper money at the woman.
I’m paying cash with legal money, not drug money.
This is the latest racist incident in America after US president tweeted at four congresswomen of colour, indirectly telling them to “go back” to where they came from despite three of them having been born in the US.
