Senator Ted Cruz recently told an audience at Texas A&M University about the possibility of controversial podcast host Joe Rogan becoming “President of Texas” should the state decide to secede from the union.
Cruz discussed the Texas secessionist movement known as “Texit” at an event sponsored by conservative organization Young America’s Foundation. The talk, which took place on October 14th of this year, is just now making the rounds on social media.

“I’m not there yet,” Cruz told the audience, “But if there comes a point where it’s hopeless, then I think we take NASA, we take the military, we take the oil.”
When an audience member asked if he would take fellow Texan Joe Rogan, Cruz swiftly responded: “Joe Rogan, he might be president of Texas!”

Last month, Rogan, a Covid-19 conspiracy theorist and host of “The Joe Rogan Experience”, claimed that that President Joe Biden’s booster shot had been faked. The podcaster contracted Covid-19 earlier this year after famously insisting that young and healthy people do not need to be vaccinated, but cited ivermectin (a medicine made specifically for horses that has been adopted by conspiracy theorists as an alternative to the vaccine) as one of the reasons he survived the disease earlier this year.
Cruz went on to say that although he “understands” the secessionist movement, he’s not ready to “give up on America”.
