Popeyes has come up with a solution (and another eye-catching publicity stunt) for disgruntled customers who want more of the chain’s sold-out chicken sandwich - bring your own bun and make your own.
The chicken chain announced its new Bring Your Own Bun initiative on Twitter, where it wrote: “Try our new BYOB! It’s basically The Sandwich! Only no mayo. Or pickles. And you bring your own bun… really it’s just three tenders…”

According to the fried chicken restaurant, customers can fulfil their cravings by simply ordering the three-piece chicken tenders and placing them between a bun of their choosing.
The fix, which may or may not be a joke, is not a perfect one, as it means the sandwich won’t be made with the chicken breast found in the original, nor will it have any of the accompaniments, but Popeyes hopes it will appease the masses until it is able to restock the sandwich.
Popeyes launched its chicken sandwiches in August, with a stock it expected to last till September.
However, an unprecedented demand for the menu item meant Popeyes sold out of the chicken sandwiches in just two weeks.
On social media, not everyone is pleased with the chain’s suggestion.

Another said: “Popeyes said bring your own bun? Chick-fil-A would never.”
