Oh, Simon McCoy, you really do inject some personality into the otherwise dour art of presenting the news.
This time, the presenter has taken his laser sharp wit and directed it towards the news that Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge's sister, has given birth to a baby boy.
Speaking on BBC news yesterday, McCoy seemed somewhat nonplussed by the news, despite it coming just a few days after the announcement that The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan and Harry, are also expecting their first child:
Pippa Middleton... Pippa Middleton, sister of course of Kate... has given birth...
It says here, has given birth to a baby!
His co-presenter then takes the opportunity to chime in with what appears to be an equally sarcastic comment:
Hallelujah!
He then continues:
Sister of Kate, sister in law of William, have had a baby
The Duke and Duchess say they're thrilled for Pippa and for her husband James....Â
Congratulations from all of us to Pippa and James... on the birth of a baby... we'll have more on that later.Â
Needless to say, people on social media thoroughly enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek announcement.
This isn't the first time veteran newsreader Simon McCoy has won the internet with his responses to the news of royal babies.
In October 2017, Kate and William announced to the press that their baby would be born in April of that year.
In response, McCoy, that staunch royalist, said:
Now bearing in mind they announced that she [Middleton] was pregnant back in September and it was thought she was around two or three months pregnant I'm not sure how much news this really is.
Oh, Simon, never stop 'doing you'.
