Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side lost 3-1 to Liverpool at Anfield yesterday in a result that could have a huge bearing on the destination of the title. To make matters worse, the City manager’s reaction to decisions going against his team has become a meme in the aftermath of the defeat.

The Barcelona legend was furious with some of the officiating in the key game, not least the fact that he felt City were denied what could have been two crucial penalties. The first of which was an apparent handball by Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold. This was further compounded by the ref allowing play to continue, leading promptly into a goal by Fabinho just 6 minutes into the game.

Later in the game, the ball appeared to hit Alexander-Arnold's hand inside his own box once more but, once again, the referee waved play on.

After a tense few moments while officials inspected VAR the goal was allowed to stand, despite protestation from Manchester City. From there things went from bad to worse as the home team picked up the pace and knocked in an additional two goals.

Guardiola’s furious gesticulating after the second key decision went against City has been turned into the gif that keeps on giving and became a glorious meme before the weekend was out.

There was even a Seinfeld inspired effort.
