Kim Jong-un channelling Putin by riding a horse becomes a glorious meme

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un mounted a snow white horse and rode it up the sacred Mount Paektu as part of a propaganda stunt as the deadline for US talks about nuclear power nears.

Photos released by the state media, KCNA, show the controversial leader sitting on a white horse, scaling the 2,750 metre peak.

According to political analysts, such a move often signals an upcoming announcement, and the mountain is purported to be where Kim Jung-un’s father was born.

The photos are causing quite a stir online.

"His march on horseback in Mt Paektu is a great event of weighty importance in the history of the Korean revolution," said a KCNA report released on Wednesday.

Sitting on the horseback atop Mt Paektu, [he] recollected with deep emotion the road of arduous struggle he covered for the great cause of building the most powerful country, with faith and will as firm as Mt Paektu.
