Nancy Pelosi is not one to shy away from throwing some not-so-subtle shade at the president and doing it in the classiest way possible.
And when she was asked about the Iran briefing, she once again disappointed no one.
Yesterday's meeting was about the airstrike which killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani and caused a dramatic escalation in tensions with the region.
Senators across the board have condemned the briefing, with Republicans Rand Paul (Kentucky) and Mike Lee (Utah), calling it “insulting and demeaning”. Lee even went so far as to say it was “probably the worst briefing I’ve seen, at least on military issues”.
So when a reporter caught up with Pelosi, she was told:
Some people are calling it the worst briefing they've ever gotten.
To which Pelosi replied, without missing a beat:
Well, there's stiff competition for that honour from this administration.
Oof. And then she just smiles and walks off.
*Insert all the fire emojis.*
A video of the exchange was tweeted by CBS journalist Julia Boccagno, and people were immediately into it.
The best part was that she managed to sound like she was trying not to criticise the meeting, while instead coming for Trump just... in general. And doing it calmly and coolly – in stark contrast to the president's increasingly unhinged Twitter rants.
What a woman.
