Despite the hectic pace of modern life, last year it was reported that stress levels in America are currently at their lowest for a decade.

However, studies show that stress has started to rise again – no doubt in part due to the fallout of the Presidential election and the volatile political situation.

WalletHub has put together this map of the most and least stressed states in America.

You might think that the busy west and east coast life might make for the most stress – but both New York and California are slap-bang in the middle of the list at 25 and 23 respectively.

It is actually Alabama that has the highest levels of stress, followed by Louisiana and then Mississippi.

And if it’s the South that’s most stressed, then the north is much more easy going.

Minnesota is the least stressed state, with North Dakota just behind.
