According to a series of pictures on social media the British supermarket has removed the word 'Brussels' from its sprout packaging and it has predictably kicked off a debate about Brexit.
Two images have been circulating on social media of two packets of sprouts which are stated as either 'Yorkshire sprouts' or 'Lincolnshire sprouts.'
There has been no definitive reason as to why Morrisons has done this but many have immediately attributed as an attempt to appease Brexiteers as the normal name for sprouts might remind people of Belgium and the home of the European Union headquarters.
As you can imagine, Brexiteers have latched onto the pictures to claim it as a moral victory against the EU, despite the food, which is popular at Christmas, being cultivated near Belgium in the 13th century.
One of these is Brexit Party MEP Lucy Harris, who called the move by Morrisons 'pretty cool.'
Predictably, people didn't think it was 'pretty cool.'
Indy100 has contacted Morrisons for comment.
