Miley Cyrus has responded in brutal fashion to Brody Jenner after The Hills star made a joke about her breakup from Liam Hemsworth.
Just one hour after Hemsworth and Cyrus confirmed they would be separating after just eight months of marriage, Cyrus was pictured kissing Jenner’s soon-to-be ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter in Italy.
Jenner and Carter announced their separation two weeks ago, after one year of marriage.
Shortly after paparazzi pictures of the two women emerged, Jenner appeared to reference the photos on Instagram, captioning a photo of himself: “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today.”
The Instagram photo turned from inspirational to messy when Jenner’s friend and co-star Brandon Lee decided to chime in, writing: “Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out.”
In response to his friend’s joke, Jenner wrote: “Watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon.”

One person who didn’t find the reality star’s response funny was Cyrus herself, who took the opportunity to drag Jenner for his past behaviour.
The Wrecking Ball singer commented: “Go take a nap in your truck and cool off #HotGirlSummer.”

The singer’s response was in reference to a scene from The Hills: New Beginnings, where viewers saw Jenner sleep in his car following an argument between him and Kaitlynn.
Reactions to Cyrus’s response were divided, with some people supporting her for standing up for herself and others suggesting her comment was “tasteless”.
“Wow you’re not very kind,” one person commented. Another said: “Grow up girl! You think you know everything.”
In a statement to People, Cyrus’s representative said the couple, who has been together on and off for 10 years, separated so they could “focus on themselves and their careers”.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.
They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.
