Michelle Obama had a message for everyone at this weekend’s Global Citizens Festival in New York.
In a video shown at the festival, Michelle spoke in support of girls’ education around the world.
She said:
Too many... still can’t get the education they need to provide for themselves and their families and make their voices heard in the world.
Michelle first attended Global Citizens in 2015 to ask for support as she launched an international campaign to support the education of adolescent girls around the world.
She says this was an “outstanding start,” but that today, 130 million girls of all ages are still not in school.
She adds:
This breaks my heart both as a women whose life was transformed by my education, and as the mother of two daughter, who wants them and every girl on this planet to fulfil her boundless potential, and become who and what she’s meant to be.
While times may have changed and I may no longer live in the White House, I have no intention of walking away from these girls.
I plan to keep on working on this issue for the rest of my life.
