Former porn actress Mia Khalifia has shared harrowing stories of the threats she has received from alleged ISIS members.
The 24-year-old, who is of Lebanese-American descent, only worked in the porn industry for a short time but quickly became one of it's biggest stars.
She is one of the most searched for names on the streaming site Pornhub and her popularity attracted some unwanted abuse during the early days of her career.
During an interview with the radio show The Sports Junkies Khalifia, who now works as a sports and pop culture correspondent, described some of her experiences.
I think that starting out with ISIS threatening to behead me really set the standard.
Host of the show, Jason Bishop then asked how they had threatened her to which she replied:
It was through social media.
They photoshopped a picture of me being beheaded and threatened that that would happen to me.
When asked if these kind of threats worry her, she gave a defiant response.
It does [worry me], but I try not to show it, because you can’t show weakness.
That’s exactly what they’re looking for.
I really try and just make it look like it rolls off, but I’ll admit, it gets to you after a while.
Khalifia had previously sparked controversy when she filmed a sex scene while wearing a hijab, which was criticised in Lebanon other areas of the Middle East.
During an interview with The Washington Post in 2015, Khalifia admitted that she was surprised that the scene had received such a strong backlash in her home country.
Hearing that my home country hates me stings more than anything else.
The scenes containing a hijab are satirical.
There are Hollywood movies that depict Muslims in a much worse manner than any scene Bang Bros [the company who made the video] could produce.
Khalifa, who comes from a Christian background, lived in Lebanon until she was 10.
Her family then moved to Miami where she remains at present.
