Meghan Markle’s friend has explained she’s deleted images and made her Instagram account private thanks to “three years of bullying and hatred”.

Jessica Mulroney, a former presenter and stylist influencer, posted what’s thought to be a reference to a now-deleted picture of Meghan Markle on her wedding day that used to sit on her feed.

On Tuesday Mulroney posted an Instagram story to her nearly 400k followers on her locked account, writing:

People often ask why I delete certain posts.

The amount of bullying and hatred I’ve had to put up with for 3 years….I’m tired of looking at it. Be kind. Be gracious. We are grown ups…stop acting like teenagers.

Real women don’t put down other women.

Mulroney’s time on social media has been turbulent this year, after she herself was accused of bullying and being an example of “textbook white privilege” by Black influencer Sasha Exeter.

Mulroney reportedly threatened Exeter after “wrongly” believing a post the latter put up regarding racism in the influencer community referred to her.

She was subsequently dropped from roles with ABC and CTV after the “threatening messages” were made public.

Since then, there’s also been reports that her friendship with Markle – which saw Mulroney’s children take on a prominent role at Markle’s wedding – is “on the rocks”.

However, Mulroney is still godparent to Markle’s son, Archie.

In light of Mulroney’s recent past – and even quicker ‘comeback' – some social media users weren’t too impressed with her message. Some even accused her of hypocrisy.

But what if we all just made an effort to be kinder to each other on social media? Wouldn't that be nice.
