Meet Andrew Charalambous, the Ukip housing and environment spokesperson and businessman sometimes known as Dr Earth.
The Times (£) today reports on mysterious claims that a Facebook page about Charalambous contained a bogus claims about his qualifications. However Ukip has said the Facebook page was not “authored by or controlled by him”.
Meanwhile a biography on Charalambous’s professional website claims:
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts since 1993. Was called as a Barrister-At-Law Michaelmas Term 1989 as a member of the Honourable Society of Grays Inn. He was made an honorary Professor of Environmental Sciences for his contribution to environmental technologies by the Universitas Sancti Cyrilli based in Malta
Mr Charalambous is a spokesperson in the true Ukip mode and by that we mean eccentric. The 45-year-old started Britain’s first eco-friendly nightclub, Club4Climate in 2008 and stood for the Tories in Edmonton in 2010, {before defecting to Ukip in 2011.]4
During the last general election, some blogs pointed out his resemblance to Doctor Evil.
The multimillionaire and self-proclaimed “tantric master” also keeps a personal website that details his thoughts on “lifting the veil from the unconscious mind”, life and death and Europe without the European Union. His biography on this site also claims he has "lived with indigenous tribes including the Dayak, so called ‘headhunter’ tribe of Kalimantan, Borneo".
