Notorious cult leader and serial killer Charles Manson died on Monday, aged 83.
In the 1960s Manson manipulated his followers into committing the murders of seven people in Los Angeles, including the actress Sharon Tate.
He passed away due to natural causes at the Kern County hospital, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections.
Manson is now synonymous with evil and insanity so it's natural that his name would serve as the inspiration behind one of the world's most controversial rock stars; Marilyn Manson.

Marilyn Manson's name, whose real name is Brian Warner, is a composite of Charles Manson and Marilyn Monroe.
In his autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, the goth rocker wrote:
The balance between good and evil and the choices we make between them are probably the single most important aspects shaping our personalities and humanity…
Marilyn Monroe had a dark side just as Charles Manson has a good, intelligent side.
The musician Manson, who is only 48, is alive and well.
Unfortunately for him, people are getting confused and believe that Marilyn Manson, not Charles Manson has died and it is creating a lot of confusion online.
Marilyn hasn't commented on the passing of Manson but did post a picture of the now deceased murderer on Twitter along with a link to his cover of the Charles Manson song (yes, he released music) "Sick City".
Meanwhile, people are taking exception with people tweeting RIP Charles Manson, failing to fully comprehend the crimes that Manson is guilty of.
