Oscar night is full of surprises. But if there was one thing that seemed certain to happen this year, it was Lady Gaga memes.

Gaga was nominated for two awards for her role in Bradley Cooper’s directorial big screen debut A Star is Born, eventually taking home the award for Best Original Song.

Gaga and Cooper performed 'Shallow', the breakaway hit from the film, during the ceremony – and let’s just say it gave people all the feels.

Cooper began the performance by singing the opening lines with a guitar, before joining Gaga at the piano. As they gazed romantically into each other’s eyes, the pair seemed to get closer and closer at the song grew to a crescendo.

Cooper and Gaga’s closeness has been well documented this Oscar season. There was even a meme about Gaga saying: “there could be 100 people in the room, and one believes in you” about Cooper. Given so many people would love the pair to become a couple in real life, the internet had a lot of feelings about the performance.

Of course, wherever Gaga goes, memes follow. Lots and lots of memes.
