It's a sad reality, but members of the LGBT+ community are still subject to homophobia and transphobia on a day-to-day basis.
According to Stonewall, one in five LGBT+ have experienced a hate crime because of their sexual identity in the last 12 months; four in five have experienced a hate crime and haven't reported it to the police; and one in ten have experience anti LGBT abuse online.
Sadly enough, many people are so bigoted that they think the LGBT+ community now has it easy, or that somehow because there are more mainstream representations of the gay community, that homophobia is a thing of the past.
One such bigot decided to express their thoughts on Twitter. Taking to the social networking site, they said:
the lgbt community is entirely way too sensitive
Don't worry. He got completely and utterly obliterated with facts.
