Here's how Barack Obama has changed after 8 years in office

Barack Obama’s second and final term as president of the US ends on 28 January 2017, which isn’t all that far away.

And as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump participate in the showdown of the century for his spot, New York Magazinedecided to run through Obama's eight years in office.

One of his first acts as president was to sign an order to close the controversial Guantanamo Bay prison, and while it remains open, the prisoner population went down from 775 to 61.

During his terms in office, he steered the US through a number of conflicts, including the remnants of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars; brokered a nuclear deal with Iran, opened diplomatic ties with Cuba, helped push through the Paris climate deal and passed Health Care Reform.

It's been a tough couple of years...
