Those rumours about Google getting involved in the gaming market might be true.

Journalists started speculating about a major announcement at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco after invitations for a Google-sponsored event were sent out.

The details on what the event would be about were scant.

Now, a recently published patent has added credibility to rumours that the tech company is planning to enter the lucrative gaming world.

The patent shows a possible design for a Google controller, which is expected to be connected to a games streaming service.

And within hours, someone had put together a mock image of what the controller could look like in real life.

That image provoked a universally negative response from gamers.

Even if you don't play games often, you can understand why this controller looks uncomfortable to use.

Nevertheless, it is important to remember that the design is not an official one – it’s just an interpretation of the patent – and the final product will probably look different.

This is also not a real controller.

Even though the design isn’t real yet, that didn’t stop the image inspiring people to share their memories of other gaming nightmares.

The Google controller may never see the light of day, but if it does, it's safe to say they’ll need to make some changes to get gamers onside.
