Giraffe killed after hitting head on motorway bridge

A giraffe has died after hitting a bridge while being transported on a motorway in South Africa.

The two giraffes were on a truck when one hit its head on a bridge on Johannesburg's N1 motorway, eyewitness Thinus Botha tweeted.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals confirmed one of the animals died upon arrival at a vet.
