A craft beer bar in Exeter has added a new sign, and people love how blunt it is.
Beer Cellar, in Devon tweeted a picture of their new sign, created by artist Chuck Mullin with a picture of a pie chart showing:
Why the female cashier is being nice to you.
It then has two options, in white "she is uncontrollably sexually attracted to you" and in black "because that's literally her job you f***ing cretin".
Unsurprisingly, the whole chart is black.
The bar added the caption to the picture:
This is definitely our favourite sign in the bar.
Also if dudes could stop trying to kiss our female bartender's hands that would be great.
People have been overwhelmingly positive since the sign went viral.
Chuck told indy100:
The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, it's sad that that situation is so familiar to many people but it's great that there's some solidarity and support among everyone.
So far I only know it's in Exeter, but i'm not from there, I've never even been!
I've lived in London my whole life.
After a staff member of their's was harassed, someone at the bar found the picture on social media and they put it up!
They've been very sweet, once IÂ told them I'd made it they made sure people credited me and pointed them in my direction if they asked.
The bar has also expertly shut down trolling responses to the sign.
Chuck told the indy100 that she made the sign early last year and it was "definitely based on personal experience".
I'd worked in retail for almost six years, and you're expected to give a+ service no matter what.
Unfortunately, some people misinterpret common decency as flirtation, and would make crass comments and even inappropriately touch me.
In customer service, you're still expected to be polite no matter what, so I got frustrated over how there's no real way to dispel that situation, unless you have an amazing manager.
So I made that image to vent my frustration! Just cause I'm nice to you doesn't mean I'm gagging for ya d**k [sic]
She hasn't visited the bar yet, but has said yet but plans to as they told her she'd get drinks on the house if she came in.
