Man jumps into moving car to save driver after having a seizure behind the wheel

A video of a man saving a driver after he had seizure in the middle of traffic has gone viral.

Dash cam footage shows a car slowly move through a red traffic light on a busy intersection in northern Illinois. The vehicles around it can be seen braking hard, and one driver quickly noticed that the person driving the car was suffering a seizure - and he jumped into action.

Randy Tompkins, who was driving a pickup truck put his car in reverse in order to avoid a collision and jumped through the car's passengers side.

Police said the car was still moving, according to the Washington Post.

Tompkins told the Chicago Tribune:

I didn't know if the guy was gonna push the gas, jerk the wheel or whatever, so I waited as long as I could to back up.

Once he got about a half-car length away from me, I parked my truck at an angle and jumped out of my vehicle.

Tompkins then proceeded to put two fingers in the driver's mouth to keep him from swallowing his tongue.

I did that really fast, and then I stopped the car. I was worried, but I would do that for anybody. It just happened to be I was a that eight place at the right time.

The police corroborated his account, and called Tompkins' actions 'heroic.'

The officers saw that Tompkins had noticed something was 'medically wrong' with the car driver.

The driver of the vehicle was found to be having a seizure.

Police took the driver to the hospital.

Hero.
