Trump dismissed a US military hero's service and everyone made the same point

Donald Trump disparaged a former Navy SEAL Bill McRaven and misspelled the name of Democrat congressman Adam Schiff following criticisms by both men of the US president.

Trump appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, and a clip of the interview went viral after he criticised the soldier, who was instrumental in the capture of Osama Bin Laden, of being a “Hilary Clinton fan".

McRaven had previously criticised Trump’s attacks on the media, calling it "the greatest threat to democracy" he’s ever witnessed. When Wallace tried to put this on the US president, Trump proceeded to interrupt him and repeatedly say he was a “backer” of Hillary and Obama, before implying that the former navy SEAL hadn’t been quick enough in his capture of Bin Laden.

“Wouldn’t it have been nice if we got Osama Bin Laden a lot sooner than that?” he said.

Needless to say, people weren't impressed by his characterisation of someone many Americans consider to be a war hero.

It didn’t take long for Trump to follow up his comments with another on Twitter – and this time he attacked Democrat Adam Schiff.

He spelt the US representative for California's name wrong, writing "Schitt" instead of Schiff.

Was it an accident or an on-purpose? Unclear...

Schiff has been a person of contention for the US president, and has been charged with investigating Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.

People noticed the spelling error, and the fact that the tweet is still up.

The president of the United States, ladies and gents.
