The seven most disturbing things you probably missed from Trump’s speech

The seven most disturbing things you probably missed from Trump’s speech

Donald Trump used a 2020 campaign rally in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday to attack the media.

He went on a rambling tirade against his critics and retrod familiar ground when it came to addressing the "dishonest media" and "fake news".

Here's a brief rundown of his rant for those of you who were tucked up in bed:

1. On Kim Jong-un

I respect the fact that he is starting to respect us.

And maybe - probably not, but maybe - something positive can come about.

2. On whatever this is

3. On Confederate statues

They're trying to take away our culture. They're trying to take away our history.

4. On building the wall between the United States and Mexico

If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall.

We’re going to have our wall. The American people voted for immigration control. We’re going to get that wall.

5. On the media

It’s time to expose the crooked media deceptions and to challenge the media for their role in fomenting divisions and yes, by the way, they are trying to take away our history and our heritage.

You see that. These are truly dishonest people. Not all of them.

You have some very good reporters, you have some very fair journalists.

But for the most part, these are really, really dishonest people.

They’re bad people and I really think they don’t like our country. I really believe that.

And I don’t believe they’re going to change and that’s why I do this.

If they would change, I would never say it.

The only people giving a platform to these hate groups is the media itself and the fake news.

6. On his Charlottesville response

You know where my heart is. I’m really doing this to show you how damned dishonest these people are.

I don’t want to bore you with this but it shows you how dishonest they are.

Trump then read out his first statement on Charlottesville, omitting the part where he apportioned blame on both sides.

7. On counter protesters in Charlottesville

You know, they show up in the helmets and the black masks. They’ve got clubs and they’ve got everything.

Don Lemon of CNN had an immediate, cutting response:

More: Donald Trump looked directly at the sun, and everyone's making the same joke
