Trump tried to mock a news company for being 'out of business' but the joke's on him

As always with these things, it started with a tweet. Firstly, on Wednesday Donald Trump Jr tweeted "fake news gonna fake!" at Newsweek in defence of his father.

The tweet was accompanied by a Newsweek article about Trump spending Thanksgiving tweeting and playing golf with FAKE NEWS plastered above it next to pictures of him feeding the troops under the header REALITY.

Trump Sr. was pretty quick to share his son's tweet, adding his own sick burn of: "I thought Newsweek went out of business?"

Twitter user Stephanie Ruhle (@SRuhle) was quick to point out that Newsweek isn't actually out of business.

She did, however, name some businesses that have gone under: Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino, Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Castle Hotel, Trump Entertainment Resorts, and Trump Family Foundation.

Neither Trumps have responded to Stephanie's tweet, but Newsweek has corrected their article.

They added a correction that read, "following the publication of this article, the president made a surprise, unannounced visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan".

They later edited the correction to read, "This story has been substantially updated and edited at 6:17 pm EST to reflect the president's surprise trip to Afghanistan." and have now updated the headline of their piece to include his visit. Within the story it now reads that he was playing golf on Thanksgiving eve, not day.
