It was in 1978 that, through the power of song, some kind village people informed young men that “there’s no need to feel down”.
Unfortunately, the hitmakers weren’t aware of the video that Donald Trump Jr – son of the former president – would post on Friday for this year’s Thanksgiving celebrations.
Putting the ‘why’ in YMCA, the Republican shared a video of the famous turkey scene from the film, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – albeit with the faces of political rivals edited onto the characters.
In the original clip, father Clark Griswold cuts into the bird by saying: “If this turkey tastes half as good as it looks, I think we’re all in for a very big treat.”
They weren’t, and instead, the turkey deflates with an underwhelming sigh to reveal the dry, grey remains.
Yet in Trump Jr’s version which nobody asked for, it’s Joe Biden cutting into the turkey to reveal Trump dancing to the Y.M.C.A. Politicians such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Vice President Kamala Harris can be seen watching on.

“You’re welcome. Happy Thanksgiving,” Trump Jr. wrote in the caption.
We know that the former president is old and – probably – dry, but we don’t think this is the political commentary his son is trying to make in this unusual 36-second video.
Responding to the clip on Twitter, it seems others were just as baffled:
Thanks, but no thanks, Trump Jr.
