Trump reacted to the Democratic presidential debate in the only way Trump can: with a one-word tweet exclaiming the whole thing was 'BORING!'. Yes, that is the president of the United States.
The commander-in-chief didn't have anything else to add to that enlightening and frankly extremely grown-up comment, except for another tweet later in the evening, in which he took a swipe at NBC News and MSNBC for technical difficulties that marred part of the debate programme.
Taking to the social media platform, Trump wrote:
BORING!
It goes without saying that social media users found the whole thing hilarious, but also somewhat scary.
Some pointed out the extremely bad timing of the tweet, which was sent just as the candidates on stage debated the crisis at the US Southern border involving migrant children.
However, others agreed wholeheartedly with the president's analysis of the debate.
Maybe the debates weren't exactly the president's 'type'?
Come on Donald, head over to the kids' table and have some cake.
We welcome president Bart Simpson!
Sorry, mate, they don't speak 'racist'.
The first half of the debate focussed on the candidates' economic goals, their plans for America's healthcare system, the environment, and proposals on how to fix the immigration issue at the border, reports Fox.
Senator Elizabeth Warren stole the spotlight on two occasions, speaking about her healthcare plans as well as her views on abortion. Defending her position by calling healthcare a 'human right', Warren said:
I'm with Bernie on Medicare-for-all and let me tell you why. I spent a big chunk of my life studying why families go broke and one of the number-one reasons is the cost of health care. Medical bills.
She added:
There are a lot of politicians who say, oh, it's just not possible, we just can't do it, we have a lot of political reasons for this. What they're really telling you is they just won't fight for it. Well, health care is a basic human right and I will fight for basic human rights.
The president's tweets came minutes after he'd deplaned from Air Force One in Alaska en route to Japan, and he'd greeted US troops there, telling them he'd chosen to talk to them instead of watching the debate.
Well, another thoroughly 'presidential' show from Mr Trump!
