These are the UK's 20 most vermin-infested towns

Newcastle has been named as the city with the worst vermin problem in the UK, according to a new report.

The British Pest Control Association reports that 5 per cent of all households in the city have dealt with extermination of the likes of cockroaches, rats, mice, bed bugs and wasps compared to just 0.03 per cent in Southend - the least-infested place.

Here are the most infested towns across the country ranked in order of call-outs per 1,000 people:

4. Southwark, London Borough of – 32.34
