Sometimes in life, all that gets you through is comfort food. Whether that's some tasty fries, a certain brand of chocolate, or even a home-cooked treat, it can mean the difference between a good and bad day.
This week, the New York Times released a sprawling video series with the 21 Democratic 2020 candidates, asking each of them the same 18 questions.
The questions spanned a range of topics, from handguns to single-payer health care, to the last time the candidates felt embarrassed. However, perhaps the most interesting question, with the most revealing answers, was:
What is your favourite comfort food on the campaign trail?
It goes without saying that it elicited a range of fascinating responses, but the one that caught people's attention was Democratic presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson's answer, which was:
I have no comfort food.
Erm, excuse us?
Twitter account @Behind2020 shared the definitive list, and it's fair to say people were shook.
In a tweet, he wrote:
Candidate comfort food:
Warren: Chips and guacamole
Harris: Fries
Gabbard: Vegan cupcakes
Buttigieg: Beef jerky
Gillibrand: Whiskey
Castro: Iced tea
Booker: Veggies
Klobuchar: Baked Potato
Williamson: “I have no comfort food”
Right... there is a LOT to unpack here.
Could anything be *less* relatable than 'no comfort food'?
It's pretty disturbing.
Does that even CONSTITUTE an answer?
The entire list is pretty devastating, let's be honest.
Wow, you really out there, standing for nothing?
This comment should constitute disqualification from the race.
The There Will Be Blood memes started coming.
Nope. Disturbing.
I. Just. Don't. Understand.
Wow, that's... revealing.
What kind of monster is this?
