David Cameron wears Asda wellies to look like 'man of the people', gets called tight

Scotland's first minister and leader of the Scottish National Party Nicola Sturgeon has been to visit people in Aberdeenshire who were affected by flooding which hit the county on Friday.

But even though it's 2016, because she is a woman, we are duty bound to comment on her clothes: several news outlets and commenters online pointed out that Sturgeon's flood-visiting outfit from Barbour and Hunter was quite expensive.

And by way of comparison, prime minister David Cameron was spotted in a £12.99 pair of Asda wellies in York in December.

Sturgeon has since clarified that the coat was a Christmas present from her husband (and also that she's not a socialist).

The prime minister has reportedly worried in the past that being seen in Hunter brand wellies will make him look posh, which is why he now steps out in cheaper brands.

But it's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't for the prime minister, if the top comment on the Telegraph's story is anything to go by:
