David Cameron decided it would be a good idea to tweet about the debate he avoided - big mistake

David Cameron stayed away from the debate last night, but still decided to have his say on Ed Miliband's performance.

The internet was not impressed, to say the least.

People said he was a chicken.

Or a petulant adolescent.

And a hypocrite.

Or in some cases, both.

After Ed Miliband said no to Nicola Sturgeon, everyone wanted to know who the prime minister might say yes to.

Then there was the moment when Conservative councillor John Moss got into a Twitter argument with someone.

A few did leap to his defence:

But mostly, people accused him of being a coward.

The rest of the internet meanwhile was trying to guess where Cameron might have been last night.

Well done everyone.
