There are many conventional ways people can share their views on their Covid policies, but one dad from Texas had different plans. James Akers opted for a much more expressive method by stripping down to his underwear – during a school meeting.
A school in the small town of Dripping Springs announced that mask-wearing would be optional for the upcoming term. While some crowd members were on board with the decision, James used his allotted 90 seconds on the microphone to make an important point.
“I do not like the government, or any other entity, telling me what to do,” James said, fully clothed.
“But sometimes I’ve got to push the envelope a little bit. And I’ve decided I’m not just going to talk about it, I’m going to walk the walk.”
In a surprising turn of events, the dad started removing his clothes.
“At work, they make me wear this jacket,” he said, taking it off. “I hate it.”
“They make me wear this shirt and tie,” Akers continued. “I hate it.”
The audience can be heard cheering the dad along YouTube
“It’s simple protocol, people. We follow certain rules. We follow certain rules for a very good reason,” James proclaimed.
He also highlighting a separate point that he has “every right to drive as fast as I want to” but cannot due to the safety needs of others.
James outlined the policies to highlight that societal rules exist for safety – with no exception for mask-wearing.
The crowd can be heard cheering the man along before two police officers apparently moved closer to the microphone ready to escort him out before James removed his last piece of clothing.
