A couple have said they are being sued after giving a company a one-star review.

Autumn Knepper and Adam Marsh said they were sued for defamation after they made the claim online that Executive Roof Services, a roofing company, had a “rude” receptionist and had not completed the work they had agreed to do.

Knepper said: “[The ERS receptionist] refused to give me any information. She said I would have to get it from the landlord. I asked to speak with the manager and she laughed at me. She told me I was verbally abusing her and that she was the office manager. She hung up on me.”

“She was just super rude, told me that she was office manager and there was no one else I could talk to and hung up on me,” Marsh added, noting that neither tenant was informed of when the company would finally complete the supposedly scheduled roof repairs.”

The couple have been ordered to pay the company $112,000.

David Bowser, an attorney representing the roofing company, told KGW-TV that the lawsuit is not actually about the negative reviews. He explained: “They intentionally harmed ERS by posting one-star reviews for the purpose of getting a report they weren’t entitled to.”
