Chris Pratt called sexist after mocking wife's cooking: 'Proud of my darling for trying to cook tonight'

Chris Pratt has drawn criticism on social media after mocking his wife’s attempt at cooking.

Over the weekend, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor shared a photo of a plated food that appears to have been burnt to a crisp.

According to Pratt, the food was originally a bagel bite - that his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger tried to microwave.

“Proud of my darling for trying to cook tonight,” the 40-year-old wrote in a lengthy caption. “Did it go well? No. No it did not. To quote Rocky Balboa: ‘It’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get up... and keep moving forward.’

“As you can tell from the lump of coal in the centre of the plate, this bagel bite never stood a chance. I honestly simply cannot imagine what went wrong here. Pretty simple. Microwave. Two minutes. Maybe she thought it said two hours.

“But I want to commend her for her effort. This is a big step babe. Proud of you.”

However, rather than amuse his followers with the slightly condescending post as he may have hoped, Pratt was accused of being patronising and sexist.

“Ladies, this is the kind of posts that happen when you marry a misogynist,” one person wrote. “Chris Pratt may hide it pretty well, but the misogyny rings loud and clear through the sarcasm…”

Another asked if it “normally goes well for you when you publicly shame your wife?”

Others asked why the actor didn’t make his own bagel bites, considering he is an adult.

“Make your own damn bagel bites, @prattprattpratt. You’re 40,” someone said on Twitter.

Despite the backlash, it seems Schwarzenegger wasn’t phased. In response to her husband’s post, she wrote: “Looks like my plan to just have you do the cooking is working out very well.”
