A young man in Newcastle has won the hearts of the internet after being bullied for his love of books.

Callum Manning recently created an Instagram account reviewing the books he’s read and, teenagers being what they are, attracted the mockery of his classmates.

The 13-year-old’s older sister popped over to Twitter to explain that she was in disbelief at discovering his classmates had, in her own words, “created a group chat calling him a creep slagging him off about it and added him to it so he could see”.

The response since the tweet has been overwhelming and Callum has had the last laugh, just as he will for the rest of his life if he continues to read at such a rate. Authors like Caroline Kepnes and Matt Haig offered to send the lad signed copies of their work and the account, at the time of writing, has an astonishing 361,00 followers.

Just occasionally on the internet, as in life, goodness wins the day. Hopefully this is the beginning of a bright career in literary criticism for our young hero.
