Hello, this is a reminder that it's officially February now which of course only means one thing: we are one month closer to the looming Brexit deadline.
Whether you're the type of person who decided to stay out of British politics since the referendum all those years ago (a smart but increasingly more difficult move), or you’ve been following the charade as much as possible, but have simply (and understandably) lost complete track of what is going on, it's time you inform yourself on what could be happening in these next vital weeks ahead.
And what better way to do this than with a nifty flow-chart (everyone’s favourite) on where the government could be heading, which one Twitter user so kindly put together for everyone.
The flow-chart, created by Brexit blogger Jon Worth, looks at four possible scenarios which could be happening in the weeks between now and the 18 February:
These are a no-deal scenario (ie. absolute chaos), May’s deal being passed, a softer Brexit deal than May’s original one, and a "time's up" scenario, which essentially means parliament realises that they've run out of time and Article 50 is delayed.
While longer-term outcomes such as a possible People’s Vote or a rescinding of Article 50 are still feasible, Worth says that these would only occur after the steps illustrated in the chart (ie. It’s not over just yet!).
Sure, at this point anything can happen and any of this might not be relevant in a few weeks time, but for now – in this moment of total uncertainty – the only thing to bring a little bit of clarity can be this beautiful flow-chart.
