It won't surprise you to learn that Tory MP and a man who lives, breathes and possibly eats Brexit, Mark Francois, is at it again.
On Monday, the member of parliament for Rayleigh and Wickford, wrote a letter to the Graham Brady, the chair of the Tories 1922 committee demanding for another vote on Theresa May's leadership of the Tory party.
In the rather extraordinary letter where he claims the 'world has gone mad', wheels out the cliched Corbyn 'Marxist, IRA, Hamas and Hezbollah' rhetoric, accuses the cabinet of eating 'vast quantities of pizza' and even takes a pop at Nigel Farage, Francois says:
I believe May has been a failure as Leader of our Party, which she now threatens to destroy. Hers is a classic example of hubris – and after hubris, comes nemesis.
You may recall back in December, that Theresa May survived a no-confidence vote, which was triggered by 48 of her own MPs who had grown disillusioned with her handling of the Brexit process.
200 Tories backed May, whilst 117 voted against her and you won't be shocked to learn that Mr Francois was in the latter camp but he obviously wasn't happy with the outcome and now wants a second go.
The problem here is that Francois has been firmly against the UK holding a second referendum on the UK's status in the European Union, so why should he get another vote on the PM's position?
It's not like MPs haven't had already had three says on the withdrawal deal, have they?
As you can imagine, Francois remarkable hubris and lack of self-awareness has been pointed out all over Twitter and it truly is something to behold.
Regardless, Francois can't actually do this, as the PM, after surviving a no-confidence vote has immunity for 12 months following, so he's gonna have to wait until December before he can vote again.
What an unbelievable waste of energy (which is literally something we could write about every single stage of Brexit).
