“Oh Darren Grimes… Sweetie, please no.”

That’s a sentence we find ourselves saying at least twice a week when fashion student turned “Brexit activist” Darren Grimes takes to Twitter dot com to tell us all his important galaxy-brain thoughts.

Earlier this week, he appeared to accidentally advocate for free movement while also seeming ignorant about the Schengen Area, which allows visa-less travel between 26 European countries.

Though, not wanting to leave the tally of weekly humiliations to just one, Grimes is back for more.

Responding to a tweet from a critic, Grimes said that “no one in the country” is “calling” for him to go to prison.

Grimes is likely referencing his £20,000 fine for breeching EU spending rules in the 2016 referendum campaign. The matter was referred to the police, but no action has been taken.

Despite the commission's ruling, Grimes denies any wrongdoing. Though, inevitably, people weren’t about to let this claim go unchallenged.

Soon Grimes was inundated with replies, mostly roasting him for his response. Turns out quite a lot of people want him to go to jail...

Eventually, a quote-tweet asking people to retweet if they do want Grimes to go to jail went viral, generating more than 7,000 retweets.

Ouch.
