An English band’s anti-Boris Johnson protest song has risen to the top of the charts this past week.
The song is called ‘Boris Johnson Is A F***ing C***’ , by an English band called K**t and the Gang. On Sunday, it charted at number 19, although the amount of profanity in the song meant that it could not be played on Radio 1.
The contest to be the number one UK single at Christmas is a long one – previous winners include Rage Against the Machine, Queen, the Beatles and more. This year it’s a race between Mariah Carey (with her Christmas classic, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’) and Ladbaby, a Youtuber who has put out a charity single with his wife for the last couple of years.
The K**ts’ song has become incredibly popular, with many people saying it’s worth streaming it this week to push it up the charts even more.

This song is currently number 3 in the iTunes chart. I think that it deserves to be number 1 at Christmas! 😉 https://t.co/SaP18bmnqQ— Paul 🇪🇺 (@Paul 🇪🇺) 1608660040

This is not The K**ts first foray into the Christmas race – another one of their songs, which is also laced with profanities, reached number 66 in the national charts in 2010.
The band hails from Essex, and typically plays punk and rock music – much of the previous output is also very political.
The band’s frontman thanked people on Facebook, saying, “'That is purely down to you. I want to say thanks very much and congratulations to all of you that have helped out on this in Scotland in Wales in Northern Ireland and in England.
'We're all in the same boat so thank you very much for coming together and showing him what you think of him.'

The song is currently at the top of charts in Spotify, and is second on Amazon Music’s chart.
There’s even a Spotify playlist which has the song running for 27 hours, which is supposed to help push it even further up the charts. It’s currently sitting at number two, but it’s a real contender.
