Boris Johnson hilariously mocked after awkward video given David Attenborough voiceover

A video of David Attenborough ‘narrating’ Boris Johnson awkwardly wiping down a chair has been described as “utterly hilarious”.

The footage shows Johnson squatting next to a chair he is disinfecting while visiting the Cwmbran vaccination centre in Gwent, Wales.

Attenborough’s voice can be heard over the top, saying:

“You might think that this is some kind of circus trick for which he’s been specially trained, but not so. He is doing this entirely on initiative. He’s seen others doing it and he’s copying.

“And that ability to imitate, as well as to use tools, is something which started among monkeys but has been brought to a much greater level.”

The original audio, which has been edited to fit the clip, comes from The Life of Mammals, which Attenborough released in 2002.

In the documentary, Attenborough observes an orangutan washing socks in a river and offers the commentary which has been dubbed over the video of Johnson.

The video, which has been watched more than 2 million times, won praise online.

And it wasn’t the only Attenborough documentary comparison. Others also likened Johnson’s attempt to clean the chair to the antics of an animal Attenborough might observe and comment on.

It’s not the first time the prime minister has struggled with an ordinary task.

Before wiping down the chair at the vaccination centre, Johnson struggled to don a pair of rubber gloves while bizarrely comparing himself to OJ Simpson.

He’s also tried and failed to mop the floor while visiting flooding victims in the north of England. He was accused of never having used a mop in his life before.
