Channel 4 replaced Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage with ice sculptures representing the environmental emergency after they declined to attend the party leaders’ climate debate this week.
The Conservatives, who attempted to send Michael Gove and, astonishingly, the Prime Minister’s father in place of the actual leader of the party, have labelled this a “provocative partisan stunt, which would itself constitute making a political opinion in its own right”
The party have also suggested they might reassess Channel 4’s public service broadcasting license should they win the upcoming election, in a move that certainly doesn’t feel the most democratic.
A Conservative spokesman, ignoring the fact that the actual Prime Minister failed to show up to a debate intended for leaders, said:
We are deeply disappointed that Channel 4 News has conspired with Jeremy Corbyn to block the Conservatives from making the case for tackling climate change and protecting the environment in this evening’s debate.
Their complains fell on deaf ears for the majority of viewers however and people were quite keen to mock the Prime Minister and his party after the no-show.
Others had thoughts about the literal Prime Minister sending his dad to do his job for him.
And others simply couldn't believe the audacity of the Tories threatening Channel 4.
