Boris Johnson and his girlfriend Carrie Symonds have been pictured for the first time since their 'blazing row' on Friday, and the picture is somewhat idyllic.

The couple were snapped smiling and holding hands in the Sussex countryside on Sunday, in what looked like a pub garden. The lovers appeared relaxed, close and intimate in the photographs, with Symonds gazing into Johnson's eyes, and the couple holding one another's hands, with the photographs being published in the Daily Mail.

It goes without saying that as soon as the photographs were released, they were widely shared on social media.

Many thought that the pictures may well have been staged.

A reboot of the Detectorists, anyone?

Or even Little Britain.

At least there is always a divorce!

Lucky the photographer was in just the right place, huh?

Others got creative.

The photographs come after the couple were in the spotlight last week after it emerged that police had been called to the house that Mr Johnson shares with Ms Symonds in Camberwell, London. The Conservative MP and prime ministerial candidate dodged questions over the bust-up at last week's Tory hustings, however The Daily Express reports that it was the couple's fourth row in six weeks.
