Can you believe it’s been four years since the EU referendum, and we’re still knee-deep in Brexit?
As negotiation talks between the UK and the EU halted last week, one MEP is just about as fed up as we are.
German MEP Theresa Reintke delivered a scathing indictment of the prime minister as she called on him to return to the negotiation table, “take responsibility” for his actions and “avoid the worst outcome for the people in the UK.”

Though trade talks collapsed, igniting fears of a no-deal Brexit, negotiations have now resumed.
Reintke began her plea to the prime minister by saying:
I think it has to be said, Boris Johnson has been lying to the people in the UK. The £350 million for the NHS, no customs checks between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, and then this oven-ready deal that basically just needed signing on the future relations between the EU and the UK.
Come on. These lies have to stop. If we want to turn this around, truth has to be spoken.
She continued by explaining the UK’s situation bluntly:
First, Brexit is a mess, second, finding a solution to this mess is not going to be easy for either side. But thirdly, and I think this is important, there might not be a good outcome to this, but there are many different levels to how difficult this can become.
Many applauded Reintke for standing up to Johnson and telling it like it is.
